Back in Encinitas, CA, Do Dunkel Jerman reports her 14th hole-in-one. Awesome! She wasted no time resuming her old activities: volunteering at the hospital, golf at three clubs, bridge with two groups, and lots of dancing.

It had been a long time since Leona Kaplan Killgore experienced the winter cold, so she visited daughter Lynne and her husband in Cleveland, OH, last January. “Now I remember what minus-five degrees feels like!” She enjoyed a trip to Eastern Canada this past summer. Back home in San Angelo, TX, Leona again chaired Hope for the Holidays, a countywide drive to aid needy families who don’t qualify for social service programs. It’s sponsored by local businesses, including the San Angelo Standard Times, where Leona worked as chief political reporter for 20 years. Now retired, she continues to host a public-affairs radio show and write for a state legislative newsletter. In her leisure time, she studies tai chi and sings in a choir.

Jane Geibel Morton and husband Chuck spent last February and March in Florida. In September she took a cruise to Bermuda with five friends from high school. She particularly enjoyed visiting the Crystal Cave, “with its 25-foot-deep crystal clear water and the beautiful pink stalactites.” For her 80th birthday in October, she and Chuck flew to London in time for the 200th anniversary celebration of the Battle of Trafalgar, sailing back on the Queen Mary II.

After a year of planning (including coordinating everyone’s schedules), Joan Schimpf Root’s clan of 10 took a trip to Costa Rica in June.
