Jean Schnabel Bailey and husband Doug have been busy since their trip to Hong Kong in July, when he was installed as a district governor of the Lions Club. His territory covers almost 40,000 square miles and two time zones. The couple spends a lot of time on the road visiting the clubs in his jurisdiction.

Joan Theobald Mitchell visited San Francisco for a family gathering and her son-in-law’s wedding, then headed to Texas to see sister Carol ’53 and celebrate Marge West Bahlke’s 80th birthday in December. While vacationing at Hilton Head, SC, the Mitchells also connected with Martha Blomberg Beery. A highlight of her trip, Joan reports, was husband Bill’s reunion with fellow members of the 8th Air Force group; the men gathered to recall the years spent in Europe during World War II.

In August Marty Beery joined Jean Domin Knapp on a trip to Ireland with a group from the Northfield-Mt. Herman School.

Katey Geyer Winant and husband Jake joined son Peter ’74 in Saratoga Springs in August for a granddaughter’s admissions interview at Skidmore. While there the Winants ran into Billie Stein Tisch, who was on campus for a trustee meeting, and were introduced to President Glotzbach. Two weeks later Katey and Jake met Bev Hodge Baar and husband Jim at a local coffeehouse for an hour of chatting.

Marge Bahlke’s husband, Bill, had an aortic valve replacement in May and has now fully recovered. However, to be safe, the couple avoided their mountain villa in North Carolina, which is located at an altitude of 4,500 feet. They celebrated Marge’s 80th birthday in December with Joan Theobald Mitchell and her husband, Bill, 15 family members, and several friends.

Lee Goldstein Garlock’s grandson plays French horn in the Wichita (KS) Symphony Orchestra. David is the son of Susan Garlock Lesser ’73; he graduated from the Eastman School of Music.

In August Sue Strauss Kraus and husband Steve took a Baltic cruise on the Crystal Symphony to Copenhagen, Gdansk, St. Petersburg, Oslo, and Stockholm. She loved St. Petersburg’s gold-covered opulence and especially enjoyed drinking a glass of vodka in a room made entirely out of ice (including the glass).
