I recently heard from Anne Lerch Sofronas, who lives in Vero Beach, FL. Last spring, Linda Walleen Will visited her for several days, during which time the Vero Skidmore club had its annual March event, attended by President Glotzbach. Anne arranged a luncheon for many who are living in or visiting Vero, including Mary Brown Bowden, Ginny Hovenden Soutter, Andy Dyer Dragoon, Sandy Linen Halsey, Jane Greene Stephens, and Linda. Another recent addition to Vero Beach is Judy Murdough Rollinson and husband George. In August Anne and her husband visited their granddaughters in NYC.

Martha Buck wrote to correct an error in the spring issue of Scope. Although Cissy and Jane Shepard Marshall ’34 both live at Canterbury Woods, a life-care facility in Pacific Grove, CA, neither is related to Lauren Craig Albrecht ’93, who was visiting her grandmother, also a Canterbury Woods resident. Cissy hopes to see everyone next June at our 50th reunion.

Congratulations to Barbara Meltzer Rochman and husband Morty, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. At the last minute, they decided to throw themselves a combination party and house-warming. Their son and his family came from Denver, and friends came from California, Florida, and Venezuela. Classmates on hand included Janet Samuels Fishbone and husband Alan, and Ann Honig Seeb and husband Stan. In the summer Barbara and her husband visited Janet and Alan at their home in Amagansett, Long Island, during the hottest weekend on record.

Maggie Steele von Biel has a new address in New Zealand.

As for me, this summer I chose to stay home and host grandchildren and other visitors. At the end of July Sandy Linen Halsey and husband Tony met me at the New London ferry, and we drove to Saratoga for our 50th-reunion planning meeting with other classmates. While there I visited with my grandson Ben, who attended summer classes at the college. His picks were “Musical Engineering” and “Global Politics,” both of which he thought were terrific. He and his friends thoroughly researched Saratoga, which for them meant the record store, the bookstore, and the health-food store. If you want to do something fine for your 16-year-old grandchildren, send them to Skidmore’s summer school. It’s a great experience.
