Erik Cavagnuolo has been a freelance writer after spending many years as an editor for a few publications (the last one being playboy.com, where he was an associate editor). He currently covers extreme sports and music for YRB magazine, which covers underground culture, music, street fashion, technology, graffiti and body art, and extreme sports. He also owns a nutritional business that distributes “a fantastic health tonic.” Erik and wife Kristen were married in 2003 in NYC. Kristen is VP of design for Movado watches.
After almost eight years, Claude Brodesser quit his gig as a film reporter for Variety to focus more on his radio show, The Business, produced by KCRW in Santa Monica, CA. NPR has agreed to market and distribute the show nationally to self-selecting affiliates (it currently airs in NYC and Washington, DC). Claude also authors a blog for mediabistro.com (Fishbowl LA), freelances for the New York Times arts and leisure section, and writes about film for Los Angeles magazine.
Julie Finigan-Dal Forno was appointed head of modern languages at Marymount International School in Rome, Italy. She teaches Spanish and English. Julie enjoys living in Rome with her husband, Corrado, and sons William, 2, and Nicholas, 7 months.
Anne Koch was married in September. Sasha Custer, Debbie Ally, Scott Colee, and Renee Raker Colee attended the wedding. Anne lives in Portland, OR, where she is an attorney practicing business and entertainment law; she specializes in negotiating contracts and licenses for bands and individual artists. While traveling in New Mexico, Anne saw Lisa Gillett, a teacher and head of the art department at Albuquerque High School. Anne also recently spoke to Loren Freed, an architect living in Houston. Anne attended the Accents 25th reunion last year and enjoyed singing “with all the girls,” including Amber Maurer Wylie. Anne also stays in touch with new moms Becky Klein, Emily Sellergren, Sarah Carner, and Lia Lucero.
Sarah Hoffman Pearson and husband Brent welcomed daughter Amelia on September 27.
Becky Klein and husband Jason Qua were delighted with the arrival of daughter Georgia on August 29. Brother Gabriel, 3, is “very excited and trying very hard to be gentle!”
Sara Kerry Greene and husband Pete announce the birth of daughter Taylor on September 20. Both mom and baby are doing very well.
Kathy Jubitz and husband Steve Hawley announce the birth of son Elliot in May.
Naomi Odes lives in Los Angeles and teaches first- and second-graders at a new charter school in West Hollywood, CA. She’s finishing her master’s in education. Naomi sees Miranda Bailey ’95, Molly Niles ’95, and John Sloan ’96 regularly.
Trevor Shevin and Natasha Ellis were married September 17 on a beach in Santa Monica, CA. Matt Kavet, Brett Schneider, Eric Rubel, and Jon Hoffman were in the wedding party. Glenn Levy ’95, Bart Simon, and Marc Nayor ’93 were also on hand to celebrate the nuptials. Trevor and Natasha honeymooned in Africa.
Stephanie Copelin is living in Park Slope, Brooklyn. She is senior director of economic independence at the United Way of NYC. Stephanie and husband Mark traveled to Morocco in the early summer. The couple enjoyed seeing Michelle Sinclair Colman, who’s published a book called Urban Babies Wear Black (www.ubwb.com), and Tyler Colman at their son’s second birthday party. Also in attendance at the party were Jeff Ziter, Becky Klein and husband Jason, Jen Mancuso ’95, and Peter Trinkle. In October Stephanie helped Becky and son Gabe, 3, celebrate their shared birthdays, and got to meet Becky’s new baby girl, Georgia.
Jen Landau and husband Julian Evans live London, England. Son Ben is 3 and Katie is 8 months. Jen runs a gallery specializing in modern 20th-century art, and Julian is a criminal barrister.
Emily Sellergren lives in Boulder, CO, with husband Pete Burhop, their dog Ajax, and baby Max, 8 months. Emily is a psychotherapist for the Mental Health Center of Boulder County. Pete works for the International Mountain Biking Association. In their free time, the family loves to hike, telemark ski, run, and enjoy the outdoors.
Frits Abell has co-founded the Skidmore Business Network for alumni working in business, finance, and directly related fields such as marketing, consulting, and public relations. SBN, which is slated for launch in NYC this month, will hold monthly breakfast meetings on the second Wednesday of each month in Manhattan. Frits sees these sessions as an opportunity for alumni to “learn new business strategies and skills, build alliances, and share successes, ideas, experiences, and goals” and anticipates SBN chapters being established in cities nationwide. Jason Walder traveled last summer to Jackson Hole, WY, where he went paragliding at an altitude of 15,000 feet. He has been working with a friend to help her battle leukemia by placing himself on the national bone-marrow donor list. Jason also helped with a bone-marrow drive, working as a volunteer, handling testing kits, and processing paperwork.
