Joey Haufler Rosenthal entertained Sue Collard Fanning this past summer; they had a wonderful time catching up. In August Joey and her husband visited Ginger Clark Keare on Cape Cod. Joey also keeps up with Pam Bartholomew Armstrong, Jane Knight Hence, and Mary Heep Van Riper. Joey’s son Todd is a set designer based at Northwestern University and is designing in New York for the Big Apple Circus and the Manhattan Theater Club.

Evie Zoda Shippee keeps me laughing. Since my son was getting married in August, I asked for advice from Evie, who has six married kids: What is the secret to getting along well with a daughter-in-law? Evie said to give lots of love and hugs, to always give a gift to your daughter-
in-law when giving a gift to your daughter, and to praise and compliment. Also it helps, I understand, to close your mouth and mind your own business as much as possible.

We extend condolences to Edie Oberfeld Levitt, whose husband, David, passed away recently
after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Edie sees Sue Hoffman Rapaport.

In Connecticut Sandy Bendfeldt continues her cabaret performances.

Nancy Rae Scully and I had a wonderful lunch together at the Asia Society here in NYC. She received a call from Jane Johnson Fear who has, along with many of us in the NYC area
(including Connecticut, Westchester, New Jersey, Long Island), expressed a strong interest in
a winter mini-reunion for ’59ers.

During Celebration Weekend in October I met with Bev Sanders Payne, Sue Clark Jorgensen, and Sheila DeNadal Salvo; we hosted a tea for the four scholarship students we support with the funds raised at our 45th reunion. While in Saratoga I had dinner with our dear and recently widowed professor Henry Galant. (In the summer Marge Goreff Neuwirth and Rita Maduro Frenkel had driven to Saratoga and taken him to dinner.) Henry met wife Eleanor in college, and they were married for 64 years. They had no children. Any call or note or visit would be so appreciated by him.

On my return trip to NY, I visited with Joan Cangelosi Kicska and daughter Susan.
