Nancy Harrison officially retired from paid work in May and launched a new career as a volunteer, principally for the board of the YWCA of Greenwich/Stamford and the Golden Seeds program. Adrianne Spevack Singer is director of the YWCA, and several other Skidmore alumnae are there. Golden Seeds is a new investment group that supports women-founded young companies. “It’s
such fun to be with smart and inquiring women who enjoy helping women entrepreneurs succeed,” says Nancy.

After 34 years in the NYC school system (half of that in the high school of music and art), Betsy Goldberg is “happy in the life I’ve always wanted.” She makes art in her own studios and enjoys
the bountiful offerings in the city. She has had two shows with very successful sales. She’s also been traveling a lot—to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, Peru, Ukraine, Bhutan, India, Ecuador, and Egypt—and shares a house on Cape Cod with a childhood friend. Betsy has had two hip replacements and a revision, is dating, and keeps up with a wide circle of former students.

Nancy Clarke Von der Linden was in our class freshman year and graduated from Drew University with a BA in political science. She then collected a master’s in education at UMass Lowell and has taught for 35 years. Although she retired in 2003, Nancy continues to teach remedial reading and do substitute teaching. She also teaches an adult basic-skills course two nights a week. Divorced, she says she is “blessed” with six grandchildren who, along with her sons and a “wonderful network of friends” have stood by her in her near-decade-long battle with recurring cancer. Nancy is in touch with Gale Parsons, who is living in Homer, AK, and fighting a valiant battle with lung cancer.
