We extend condolences to Deborah Mull, whose sister, Carolyn Mull ’78 died September 30 after a lifelong battle with serious complications from diabetes. Deborah recalls the time when Carolyn took a tumble while visiting Deborah at her Adirondack mountain camp one summer. Deborah’s arms where both in casts from an accident, and she was unable to help Carolyn up. “We were both laughing hysterically. Leave it to a woman who had been knocked down her whole life to laugh in a situation like that.” Of Carolyn’s years as a swimming instructor at the YMCA in Bath, ME, Deborah observes, “It was the one place she could be and nobody could tell whether she had a disability.” After earning a master’s degree Carolyn brought a special sensibility to her work with families battling substance abuse. Deborah notes, “She came in quietly and let the families do the talking.” Deborah and her family are in our thoughts and prayers.
