Cece Hennessy Barnett enjoys life in Richmond, VA, with her husband of 59 years. Their family includes three daughters, 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She encourages classmates to look her up when in the area.

Lolly Swift Burbank’s clan of 19 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered at Pine Knob Beach, a barrier island off the North Carolina coast, for what she calls “a delightful circus.” She invites us to visit her in Lookout Mountain, TN.

Still independent, Barbara Ketchum Lahey takes care of her house and garden and enjoys driving. She wishes the world news were more upbeat but sends best wishes to all.

Oggie Cudmore feels fortunate to be living with son Paul and family in Littleton, CO. She is receiving physical therapy to strengthen her legs and eventually get along without a walker. She was pleasantly surprised with happy-birthday phone calls in July from Jane Dewey Cash, Pat Wakeley Mara, and Ellie Coleburn Zoller.

Bettina Loheed Moore’s husband, John, has been on medication for dementia for four years; the disease appears to be getting worse. They plan to stay in Mountain Lake, a community of 125 homes, a hotel, pool, and many congenial friends in Lake Wales, FL. Fortunately, they have excellent help and are happy there.

Eleanor Dillaway Rowland has been painting like crazy and has invested in a giclée printer that creates textured prints from the original art. She is now teaching two painting classes at the Queensbury (NY) Senior Center.

Ruth Mook Kerr is delighted to report she has a second great-grandchild.
The wedding of Genevie Wyckoff Sewell’s grandson in Austin, TX, was marked by very hot weather, but air conditioning saved the day. Genevie’s children, two from California and one from Texas, threw her a 90th birthday party in October at Longfellows in Saratoga Springs, NY. We express our belated but heartfelt condolences to Genevie on the loss of her husband, Bill, in 2006. Due to a Scope error, this sad news was not published earlier. Bill had been honored by the Town of Ballston, which dedicated a town-hall community room in his name. A school administrator, he was also a Saratoga County supervisor.

We also send our thoughts to Ruth Blachly Titus, whose husband passed away in 2004. Last February, Ruth moved to a senior-living residence in Austin, TX.

Sally Lathrop informed me that Dorothea Stonington Lathrop died this past summer. The class sends condolences to Dorothea’s family.

Our condolences also go to the family of Susanne Imlay Dhyse, whose death was noted in the last Scope. One of our little band of nursing majors, Sue was a gentle, kind person with a backbone of steel to handle life’s setbacks.

Dick Jones, eldest son of the late Betty Johnson Jones, wrote to share the sad news that his father, Kenneth, passed away last April in the company of family. Like many spouses of ’41ers, Kenneth was known to many of us and will be missed.
