Claire Anderson McCann is hosting a luncheon this fall for the 10 seasonal Skidmore girls at Ocean Reefs. She still plays a little golf and has started taking water-aerobics classes. She volunteers with the tennis club by phoning 45 members and reminding them to attend the Every Other Friday Night Tennis and Refreshment Evening.
Marie-Louise Flinker Putney attended three graduations in one week—college, high school, and kindergarten. She feels blessed to have three of her children nearby. In Charleston, SC, she still enjoys volunteer work with the Tri-County Family Ministries, which operates an emergency food center and a library in the Children’s Hospital playroom.
Bee-Jay Huber Billings, who lives in
Orange City, FL, spent the summer up north with her children and their spouses, grandchildren, and two great-grands. She is “spending their inheritance” this year and taking the entire brood on an Alaskan cruise.
Betty Lehmer Ortez came east from California to visit roommate Mary Mecklin Jenkins. She also spent time with Libby Cone Gardner and Shirley Blanchard Krug. Betty says she is doing pretty well and feels fortunate that her three daughters all live in California (Pleasantville, San Rafael, and north of Eureka).
In Seattle, WA, Miriam Jackson Curran says she is “still perking along.”
In Texas Kit Mungall Porter and her husband finally moved to a “real” retirement high-rise with a wonderful view of Corpus Christi Bay and the south side of the city. Kit loves having meals prepared for her.
We send our deepest sympathies to Jane Pearce Lowe, who lost Bob, her husband of 64 years, early this year. She spent a couple of weeks in New England with family, including Jane’s first great-granddaughter, Hannah, on Cape Cod, and the rest of the clan in Andover, MA. Jane still loves living in Florida.
