Our champion traveler, correspondent, and e-mailer of streaming videos, Carole Walter Maeder, is recently back from a trip to Yellowstone National Park with her grandchildren.

Marge Orton Hanselman and Dave, who live in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, attended son Dana’s wedding in Juneau, AK, on June 21. Dana and wife Kalei work for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, watching fish populations. They both received their PhDs at the same time a few years ago. Meanwhile, Marge and Dave are still running the family resort in Wisconsin. In the winter, they travel and read.

Susan Gibbs visited friends at her summer cabin on a Norwegian fjord for some much-needed relaxation after a horrendously busy summer at work. These are the times when she realizes she is indeed 64, not the 35 she likes to think she is! She is grateful to Skidmore for the fantastic nursing education she received. Gibbsie finds that young nurses of today are unaware of some of the knowledge she gained through the program 45 years ago.

Sandra Koch Prior flew to London in March to see her fifth granddaughter, Caitlin, who was born there in December. Sandra and I ran into each other at the Philadelphia Flower Show.

Somehow “65” has two important meanings to me: our year of graduation, of course, but also the long anticipated and somewhat dreaded bridge to old age. I am struggling a bit with the reality of having signed up for Medicare. The icing on the cake is my application for Federal Long Term Care Insurance. I am enjoying watching the political scene evolve; I’m still a government major at heart—and still handling government workers’ compensation cases on a daily basis, including most weekends. I enjoyed a recent visit from both my Australian and my Chicago grandchildren.
