Marion Brewer has retired from 34 years of teaching. She misses her students and colleagues but not the day-to-day stuff. She spent the past year replacing her hips and doing all the necessary rehab. She says she is better than new and ready to rock and roll! She is headed to Egypt in February.
Eileen Arguiewicz Berilla and her husband are empty-nesters since son Michael graduated last May from Lehigh Univesity with an electrical engineering degree. He is employed by Lockheed-Martin in Pennsylvania. Daughter Elizabeth lives nearby in Maryland, where she is working on grants for the state’s library system after a brief career with Williams College’s maritime program in Mystic, CT.
Cooki Landis Messmer retired in June after many years as a middle school, high school, and elementary school counselor. She now enjoys her weaving and fused glass—and regrets never taking an art class at Skidmore! Cooki welcomes hearing from old college friends.
At 56, Margo Peter Geddie earned her CFP title and proudly admits it’s not bad for “an old lady.” She is senior VP of wealth management and senior investment-management consultant for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, in Houston, TX.
Debbie Davis Moore’s granddaughter is 4 years old. In October Debbie’s son Bill qualified to golf in the USGA’s Mid-Amateur Tournament in Kiawah Island, SC.
Helen Susan Edelman is still living in Saratoga Springs, NY, where her heart took root sometime during those undergraduate years. Her oldest daughter, Morgan, is happily married and finishing a PhD in consumer behavior. Second daughter Taber is in law school. Eldest son Jacob is an undergraduate studying classics at Canada’s King’s University. Helen is at home with the youngest (and tallest), Jonah, who loves his life as a musician and Web designer. Helen continues to write nonfiction, which revitalizes her every day.
Tobi Solomon Gold shared great news about Taber Shirley Rehbaum: she was named CEO of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Alaska. Taber has been with the organization for over 14 years. Tobi and Taber have been good friends since “day 1” at Skidmore.
I
shared a carefree day with Valerie Burns Winebrenner and daughter Mary Beth ’09 during their summer visit to San Francisco to celebrate Mary Beth’s graduation from Skidmore. I happily guided them over the hills of San Francisco and through Muir Woods; afterward they enjoyed sunset over the city and dinner in Chinatown. In October I ran into Jean Bidlack ’75 at the annual Society for Neuroscience conference in Chicago, a pleasant surprise for both of us! Jean is a professor at University of Rochester; I was there as marketing representative for SRI International Biosciences Division. We recognized each other immediately.
