What is CSWE?

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is a national association that preserves and enhances the quality of social work education for practice and promotes the goals of individual and community well-being and social justice. CSWE pursues this mission through setting and maintaining policy and program standards in social work education programs, accrediting bachelor's and master's degree programs in social work, promoting research and faculty development, and advocating for social work education. Skidmore College's Social Work Department has been fully accredited by CSWE since 1983. For more information on the CSWE's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards, please see the official guidelines. The CSWE website is a useful resource for information on accredited graduate programs, which typically allow Skidmore BSW students to enter a one-year MSW program.
