Third Annual FOSA Event a Highlight of Celebration Weekend

Sal Paolantonio, "Sports Center" correspondent at ESPN, will be the featured speaker at the third annual Friends of Skidmore Athletics Benefit and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the College's Sports and Recreation Center.

Paolantonio's daughter Kyle is president of Skidmore's Class of 2007. The FOSA program; part of Celebration Weekend for Skidmore families and alumni volunteers; will kick off with cocktails and dinner followed by Paolantonio's remarks, the induction ceremony, and a live and silent auction. 
 
Auction proceeds will benefit the athletics program.

The Friends of Skidmore Athletics annually recognize student athletes, teams, and faculty and staff who have made a significant contribution to College's athletics program. This year's Hall of Fame Inductees span four categories: student/athlete, faculty/staff, team, and candidates deserving of special recognition. Student/athlete inductees are Jennifer Collins '00, field hockey; Richard Hiller '92 (posthumously), ice hockey; Joanna Morgan '95, soccer, basketball, and softball; and Michael Porter '96, golf.

Team honors go to the 1976-77 women's basketball team. Nancy Davis, associate professor emerita of physical education, is the faculty/staff honoree. Two alumni will receive special recognition: Steven Cornell '81 for his efforts on behalf of Skidmore's hockey program, and Joanna Davenport '54 (posthumously), who was an internationally recognized expert on the history of women's athletics and an Olympic athlete, for extraordinary achievement as a professor of sports history and administrator at Auburn University.
