Men's Tennis Team Wins Championship

Skidmore captured its fifth overall and second-straight Liberty League Men's Tennis championship with a hard-fought 4-1 victory over host Vassar College Sunday, April 23.

Senior Greg Sher provided a stellar performance for the Thoroughbreds with a lead-off point at first doubles, then clinched the match with 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Vassar's Erik Skartvedt at No. 1 singles.

Skidmore captured the all-important point in doubles competition with Sher and Jared Karlebach winning an exciting match over Vassar's Ashish Patil and Peter Ludlow 9-8 (7-5).

At No. 2 singles, Patil evened the match at 1-1 for Vassar with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Brett Levin. The Thoroughbreds bounced back with singles victories from Jared Karlebach at fourth singles and Tyson McKechnie at number five. Sher clinched the match in a slugfest over Skartvedt, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).
