Afternoon of Family Fun to Be Held at Skidmore April 29

Benef-Action, a Skidmore College student organization devoted to community service and volunteerism, will host its annual "Kids Fair" Saturday, April 29, noon to 3 p.m. on Porter Plaza at Case Center, on the Skidmore campus. The event, open to the public and free of charge, will be held rain or shine.

The fair will offer arts and crafts, games, clowns, and a range of children's activities. Entertainment will be provided by Skidmore's a cappella signing groups and by Pulse, a "found object" percussion group that invites audience participation. Free food will be available.

"Over the past few years, the Kids Fair has become one of Benef-Action's greatest events," said Benef-Action member and Skidmore sophomore Carrie von Glahn. "By bringing together different clubs on Skidmore's campus to work with children in the community, we feel that we are accomplishing our goal of fostering connections between Skidmore students and the town."

A special sponsor of this year's Kids Fair will be Saratoga Reads, a community reading program that this year selected Wicked by Gregory Maguire as its book of choice. The Saratoga Reads junior companion book is The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, published in 1900.
