Student Republicans Plan 2 Special Events
Skidmore's Young Republican Assembly (SYRA) will host two special events on campus
over the next week. Admission to both is free and open to the public.
Conservative Challenge Week
Author Dan Flynn will wrap up the SYRA's Second Annual Conservative Challenge Week
when he speaks at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 13, in Gannett Auditorium, Palamountain Hall.
Flynn, a frequent lecturer on the college circuit, will give an interactive lecture
titled "Exposing Leftist Lies That Have Obscured America's Greatness". The Young America's
Foundation is a co-sponsor of Flynn's talk.
Flynn's books include Intellectual Morons: How Ideology Makes Smart People Fall for Stupid Ideas and Why the Left Hates America: Exposing the Lies That Have Obscured Our Nation's Greatness.
From 1994 to 1997, he was a program officer for Young America's Foundation, and from
1997 to 2003 he was executive director of Accuracy in Academia. His articles have
appeared in The Boston Globe, The American Enterprise, The Washington Times, Human Events, and National Review Online, among other publications. He has been interviewed on network and cable TV and numerous
radio talk shows.
Gubernatorial Candidate John Faso on Campus
The SYRA will welcome Republican gubernatorial candidate John Faso on Monday, April
17. Faso will share his political philosophy in a public talk scheduled to begin at
8 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium. The community is welcome.
Faso is the former minority leader of the New York State Assembly who narrowly lost
a bid for State Comptroller in 2002. He has thus far received the endorsement of numerous
Republican county committees and former rival, Secretary of State Randy Daniels, who
ended his run for governor earlier this month, throwing his conservative and upstate
political support to Faso.
