Lacrosse Players, Softball Pitcher Earn Liberty League Notice
Thoroughbred men's and women's lacrosse goalies James de Gorter and Sarah Berheide
have been named Liberty League Defensive and Co-Defensive Performers of the Week,
while softball pitcher Sarah Stehouwer was named Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week
of March 27-April 2.
In a 2-0 week, de Gorter allowed seven goals on 23 shots, lowering his overall goals
against average to under five goals per game (4.96). He had 11 saves and five ground
balls in a 7-6 win over Swarthmore. On the season de Gorter has a .703 save percentage
and a team-high 30 ground balls.
Skidmore, 5-3 overall and 1-0 Liberty, is at Union College at 1 p.m. Saturday, April
8.
Berheide finished the week 1-1 allowing just seven goals on 21 shots, dropping her
goals against average to 4.46. In a 6-5 loss to St. Lawrence, she had 11 saves and
five ground balls. Berheide has a .619 save percentage.
Skidmore, ranked 18th nationally, is 8-1 overall and 3-1 in Liberty League play.
The Thoroughbreds are at Rochester Friday, April 7, and at William Smith Saturday,
April 8, for a pair of Liberty League games.
Stehouwer went 3-0 in four games with a 1.69 earned-run average and 14 strikeouts
in 20.2 innings. She had a complete game two-hit 3-0 shutout against Lyndon State
with eight strikeouts. Stehouwer is 4-7 with a 4.42 ERA and 38 strikeouts.
Skidmore is 5-13 and home Sunday, April 9, against Fisher College in a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
