Dance + 17 offers daylong festival of dancing
Dance + 17, a one-day community dance festival of unique classes in diverse styles for dancers of all ages and skill levels, will get under way for the 17th straight year this Saturday, March 3, at Skidmore.
The event will be held in the Dance Center from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Fees are as follows:
Adults–$35 pre-paid, $45 at the door;
Students/seniors – $30 pre-paid, $35 at door;
Per class: $15 adults, students, seniors,
Children (per class)– $5 pre-paid, $8 at door.
By pre-paying using the registration form by Friday, March 2, participants will receive a discount as well as a special armband that offers priority admission into the classes.
The Skidmore Dance Department and the Capital/Saratoga Dance Alliance sponsor the festival, which this year will feature 23 different classes in ballet, modern, ethnic, jazz, tap, social dance, yoga, and body workshops. Classes will be available at the introductory through the advanced levels with 23 different teachers and musicians.
Class offerings will include t'ai chi, capoeira, yoga, African, hip-hop, tango/swing, musical theater dance, and stretch and relax. There are specific classes designed for children ranging in age from 7 to 12, teens, adult beginners, and the experienced dancer. Guest artists, area teachers, and the Skidmore dance faculty will teach the sessions.
