"Orange and Maroon" day to show solidarity with Virginia Tech

April 19, 2007

Skidmore College students are joining with college and universities across the country on Friday, April 20, to participate in an "Orange and Maroon Effect" day to honor those killed in the tragic events at Virginia Tech on April 16, and to show support for Virginia Tech students, faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and friends.

"Orange and Maroon Effect" was born several years ago as an invitation to Tech fans to wear orange and maroon to Virginia Tech athletic events. An announcement on Facebook.com invites the entire country to join the Virginia Tech family this Friday by wearing orange and maroon to support the families of those who were lost, and to support the school and community.

Molly Appel '07, vice president for communications, SGA, is working with student leaders on campus to encourage the Skidmore community to wear orange and maroon–the colors of Virginia Tech–on campus this Friday.
