Skidmore to meet St. John Fisher in NCAA regional

Skidmore's baseball team will face St. John Fisher College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship New York Regional at Falcon Park in Auburn, N.Y.  at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 16.

The Thoroughbreds are seeded sixth in the seven-team double-elimination regional that will continue through Saturday, May 19.  The regional winner goes on to the Division III World Series, scheduled May 23-27 in Appleton, Wisc. 

Skidmore (20-18) earned the NCAA bid by winning the Liberty League Tournament Sunday, May 13.  This marks the second NCAA tournament for the Thoroughbreds, who finished third in the 2005 regional.  St. John Fisher (26-11), seeded third, will be playing in its first NCAA tournament.
