Attention book lovers: Recommend your favorite novel

Saratoga Reads, a Skidmore-Saratoga collaboration, has begun its fourth year with a call for nominations for this year's book of choice.

The book must be a novel written in English, readily available in paperback, and capable of sparking rich dialog and engaging events. Submit your nomination on the Web at www.saratogareads.org or fill out a form at the Saratoga Springs Public Library. The deadline is September 4.

The Saratoga Reads Selection Advisory Group will review all nominations and assemble a ballot of finalists for a public vote. The winner will be announced Thanksgiving week.

Saratoga Reads is a volunteer organization with the goal of creating an extensive and shared conversation for all ages and various areas of interest. The program centers on the community-wide reading of a single book, one compelling enough to inspire lively conversation and diverse educational and cultural activities.

The novels of choice for the past three years have been T he Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire, and Caramelo by Sandra Cisneros.
