Skidmore hockey defenseman Phil McDavitt '09 was named the ECAC East Hockey Player of the Week and men's basketball forward Jonah Haviland-Markowitz '08 was named Liberty League Men's Basketball Co-Forward of the Week for the week ending Dec. 9.

McDavitt led the Thoroughbreds to a 4-0 win over Wentworth with two first-period goals. He was on the ice for three of the team's four goals. The junior blue-liner fueled a Skidmore defense that killed eight penalties for its first shutout of the season. Skidmore (2-3-2) will play next on Jan. 4 against Lake Forest in the first round of the Middlebury College Classic.

Haviland-Markowitz had a pair of double-doubles in Skidmore?s 1-1 week. In a 78-59 win over Cazenovia, he scored a team-high 22 points and pulled down 14 boards. He also netted 13 points and 13 rebounds in a 73-67 loss to Westfield State. Skidmore is 5-4 going into the break.
