Activities

Roy Ginsberg, Joseph C. Palamountain Jr. Professor of Government, has a busy agenda for the end of September. On Sept. 22, he will meet in New York City with European Union Commission President Jos Manuel Barroso, former Portuguese prime minister, for a conversation on the future of EU-United States relations following November's general election. He has accepted an invitation to speak at the Rand Corp. in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 26 to discuss the new Rand study on European and American experiences with nation-building. That same day, he will speak at the U.S. Department of State, where he has been invited to present his next book project titled The Impact of the European Union in International Security. Ginsberg's co-authors are Michael E. Smith, St. Andrews University, and Susan E. Penksa, Westmount College. The book is due in 2010. A second edition of Ginsberg's most recent book, Demystifying the European Union: The Enduring Logic of Regional Integration, is due in 2009.

Beau Breslin, associate professor of government and director of the First-Year Experience, was interviewed by WBUR, a Boston NPR affiliate, on the topic of summer reading for college students and the reading assigned this year to members of Skidmore's Class of 2012, the Terence Blanchard CD titled A Tale of God's Will.
