Thoroughbred golf team continues win streak

The Skidmore golf team won its sixth straight tournament with a 28-stroke victory at the Hamilton Invitational Oct. 4-5. The undefeated Thoroughbreds shot an impressive 296-289?585 for the victory.

Sam DaSilva ? 10 (Wyckoff, N.J.), Matt Canavan ? 10 (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), and Joe Flowers ? 11 (Benton, Maine) tied for first place in the tournament with two-day scores of 147. DaSilva and Canavan came from behind on day two and birdied the final hole of the tournament to catch teammate Flowers.

Women?s volleyball went 3-1 at the Williams Invitational, defeating Hamilton, Westfield State, and Oneonta. The Thoroughbreds? only loss of the tournament was to host Williams. Junior Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, N.Y.) was named to the all-tournament team as she surpassed 2,500 career digs, finishing with 102. The Thoroughbreds also collected an exciting 3-2 win over Middlebury Oct. 1 in their first home match of the season.

Junior Elise Britt (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) recorded a hat trick Oct. 3 as the field hockey team blanked SUNY New Paltz, 5-0. Britt now leads the Liberty League in goals scored with 10.

The men?s soccer team improved to 7-3-2 with wins over Castleton State (Oct. 4) and Southern Vermont (Oct. 1). Junior Ernie Economides scored his first goals of the season when he netted both goals in the 2-0 win over Castleton State.

Women?s tennis picked up a 9-0 win over conference foe Union Oct. 4. Sophomore Danika Robison (South Burlington, Vt.) had victories in number-one singles and doubles competition.

On Oct. 4, 25th-ranked Ithaca College handed the women?s soccer team its third loss of season, shutting out the Thoroughbreds 2-0. ~By Sytiva Seitz
