Marie Glotzbach, lecturer in theater, presented ?Educational Theatre: Making Connections and Transforming Young Lives? at the Saratoga County School Boards Association meeting Sept. 8 in Saratoga Springs.

As part of the presentation, Saratoga Springs High School students Kevin O?Toole and Lily Holgate gave a performance from Thoroughly Modern Millie, which was staged by their school last year and won two High School Music Awards from the Schenectady Light Opera Company. Glotzbach has been actively involved as a theater educator for more than 30 years and has held a number of leadership positions in the Educational Theatre Association, currently serving as the association?s leadership coach for the Northeast.

Exhibitions

Doretta Miller, Robert Davidson Professor of Art, has a solo show of recent gouache paintings on paper to be exhibited Nov. 4 through Dec. 6 at the First Street Gallery, 526 W. 26th St., Site 915, in New York City. A public reception is scheduled from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. The show features urban scenes that focus on less-traveled locations found in three of her favorite cities: Beijing, Florence, and Saratoga Springs. A variety of visual effects offset the strong illusions and the paintings feature borders with referential motifs, decorative patterns, and trompe l?oeil.

Paul W. Calhoun, F. William Harder Professor of Business, was a source for a story titled ?As dollar grows stronger, cross-border trade softens? published Oct. 28 in the Albany Times Union.

Research by Gordon Thompson, professor of music, on the Paul McCartney song titled Michelle was presented in a Page 6 news item published Oct. 22 in The New York Post. The research appears in Thompson?s forthcoming book, Please Please Me: Sixties British Pop, Inside and Out (Oxford University Press).

Bob Turner, associate professor of government, was interviewed for ?Giuliani to stump for Treadwell,? a story published Oct. 28 in The Daily Gazette.
