November 3, 2008

Skidmore?s field hockey team will ride an eight-game winning streak into Liberty League playoffs after two wins last week.

Junior Casey Tang (Columbia, Md.) scored her first goal of the season off a penalty stroke late in the second half as the Thoroughbreds cruised to a 3-0 win Oct. 29 over Hartwick.

On Saturday, Sophomore Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) scored her Liberty League-leading 15th goal of the season and recorded an assist as the visiting Thoroughbreds shut down Utica 3-0 in the final game of the regular season.

The playoff-bound women?s soccer team fought to a 1-1 tie with Plattsburgh and finished the regular season with a 12-4-3 record. Senior Rachael Sushner (Potomac, Md.) scored Skidmore?s only goal, putting her at fourth in the conference in goals scored.

The men?s soccer team also played to a 1-1 tie with SUNY New Paltz on Oct. 31. Freshman Pat Wildes (Hamden, Conn.) scored off a Matt Wolff (Minneapolis, Minn.) pass to even the game near the end of the first half.
