Emery to guest at Dec. 4 Orchestra concert

Skidmore?s own Michael Emery, an artist-in-residence in the Department of Music, will step up to solo with the Skidmore Orchestra for its concert on Thursday, Dec. 4. Anthony Holland will conduct the orchestra in a program that features Goldmark?s Violin Concerto, Weber?s Overture to Der Freischutz, and Hungarian Dances by Brahams.

The event begins at 8:15 p.m. in Filene Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and students.

A recent soloist with the Glens Falls and Schenectady symphony orchestras, Emery also maintains a busy schedule as concertmaster for orchestras throughout this region and in California, and performing chamber music. At Skidmore he teaches violin and chamber music, and directs the popular annual string workshop.

Emery earned a master?s degree in violin performance at the Manhattan School of Music.
