Achievements

Elzbieta Lepkowska-White, associate professor of management and business, and Kristina Powell, Class of 2007, presented their research ?Marketing to Multiple Audiences: A Case of the Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore Collge, NY,? at the Global Business and Economics Research Conference, Istanbul, Turkey in August 2007. They received Best Presenter Award and the manuscript is published at The Business Review, Cambridge, Vol. 8, No. 1, Summer 2007.

Publications, Exhibitions

Doretta Miller, Robert Davidson Professor of Art, is guest curator for the exhibition ?Beijing NOW: Oil Paintings by Twelve Chinese Artists,? First Street Gallery, 526 West 26th Street, New York City. The exhibition showcases painters response to recent urban changes and the upcoming Summer 2008 Olympics. Skidmore?s Office of Alumni Affairs will co-host a public reception at the gallery from 3 to 5 pm, Saturday, February 9. A bilingual exhibition catalogue is available with Introduction by Doretta Miller, and translation by Lingyi Hu, visiting Skidmore professor of foreign languages and literature. The poetry of India is prominently featured in the September 2007 edition of Poetry magazine, thanks to the efforts of R. Parthasarathy, professor of English, who conceived and presented the issue?s portfolio of 13 Indian poems representing as many languages. A critique of the edition published Jan. 6 in The Hindu, India?s national newspaper, notes, ?Never before has Indian poetry enjoyed such prominent coverage and lavish treatment.? The review continued, ?Parthasarathy?s introduction is a sheer delight in its lucidity and informativeness. ?My intention,? says he, ?is to showcase select poems in a robust, contemporary English edition that will enable American readers to get the feel of Indian poetry.? ?
