Mary Solomons, director of donor relations, has been elected to the 16-member board of directors of the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP). The election took place at the organization?s fourth annual International Conference last month in San Antonio. Solomons made presentations at the ADRP annual conferences in 2004 and 2005, and co-chaired the Capital District-area conference in 2006. She serves on the organization?s marketing committee and writes a monthly e-column on best practices.

Publications

Robert Boyers, professor of English, wrote a review of Nadine Gordimer?s Beethoven Was One-Sixteenth Black and Other Stories for Harper?s magazine. The review appears in Vol. 316, No. 1893, February 2008. Harper?s is the oldest general-interest monthly in America.

Melora Wolff, lecturer in English, is the author of ?Closing Night for My Bit Part,? a Modern Love essay published in the Jan. 27, 2008 issue of The New York Times. Click here to read.

Ron Seyb, associate professor of government, was interviewed Tuesday, Jan. 29, by WYNT-TV news reporter Matt McFarland for a story on the presidential campaign of fomer New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, in connection with Florida?s Republican Presidential Primary.

Susan Walzer, associate professor of sociology, was interviewed on the topic of women and divorce by Julia Taylor, host of 51%, which airs on WAMC-FM (90.3). Each week the show takes a look at society?s impact on women and their impact on society. Taylor hosts the show with Jeanne Kammer Neff, president of the Sage Colleges. 51% airs at 3 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 p.m. Thursdays on WAMC, or may be heard via the web.
