Activities

Erica Bastress-Dukehart, assistant professor of history, is to deliver a paper titled "Siblings: The Politics of Family Conflict in Early Modern Germany" on Feb. 22 at a workshop titled "Sibling Relations and Family History: Conflicts, Cooperation and Gender Roles," sponsored by the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.

Jay Rogoff, lecturer in English, gave a talk called "Shakespeare's Shylock: One of Us or One of Them?" Feb. 11 at the 92nd Street YM-YWHA in New York City. It was sponsored by the New York Council for the Humanities' Speakers in the Humanities series.

Publications

Professor of Government Roy Ginsberg wrote an opinion piece titled "Independence, not control, in Kosovo" in the February 20 issue of the Albany Times Union. Read it here.


Jay Rogoff, lecturer in English, has published his poem "Just Looking" in Literary Imagination, Vol. 9, No. 3 (2007), and another poem, "Fifteen," in Margie, No. 6 (2007). His essay-review of four books of poetry, So I Will Till the Ground by Gregory Djanikian, Domestic Violence by Eavan Boland, Littlefoot by Charles Wright, and Blackbird and Wolf by Henri Cole, appears in the Southern Review, Vol. 44, No. 1 (Winter 2008).

William Brown, associate professor emeritus of biology, had his research on rattlesnakes cited in "The Forensic Humanitarian," an essay by Jim Giles published Feb. 17 in the New York Times Magazine.

Trustee Elliott Masie is featured in the February issue of Spirit of Saratoga magazine, published by the Saratogian. Read the story here.
