Chris Potter's Underground to perform March 20

Chris PotterMulti-reedman/composer Chris Potter, considered one of the finest saxophonists of his generation, will perform with his ?Underground:? guitarist Adam Rogers, bassist Scott Colley, and drummer Nate Smith at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, in Filene Recital Hall at Skidmore.

Tickets are $5, general admission, and $2 for students and senior citizens.

On Wednesday, March 19, at 2 p.m., the group will lead a workshop session for students of John Nazarenko, senior artist-in-residence, in Filene Recital Hall. The public is invited to observe.

Like most young jazz musicians, Potter is well schooled in the masters and his critically acclaimed 2001 recording, Gratitude (Verve) pays tribute to many of those who have influenced him.

The quartet is the latest in the College?s Filene Concert Series of guest artists. Since 1982 the series has brought to the Skidmore campus major international artists to teach and perform. Established through the generosity of the Lincoln and Therese Filene
Foundation, concerts in this series have included outstanding performers representing a wide range of musical genres and styles.
