Writers Institute to feature Millhauser reading

As the New York State Summer Writers Institute at Skidmore enters its final week, a change in the schedule of public readings has been announced.

Skidmore?s own Steven Millhauser, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and short story writer, will read from his fiction at 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in Davis Auditorium. The program also will include a reading by novelist Alix Ohlin. Millhauser replaces the novelist Robert Stone, who had previously been scheduled for the night.

Remaining events during final week of the 2008 Summer Writers Institute are as follows:

?Monday, July 21: Novelist Neil Gordon and non-fiction writer James Miller

?Tuesday, July 22: Novelist Russell Banks and poet Chase Twichell

?Wednesday, July 23: Poet Peg Boyers and novelist Mary Gaitskill

?Thursday, July 24: Novelist Steven Millhauser and novelist Alix Ohlin

?Friday July 25: Novelist Joanna Scott and poet James Longenbach

All events begin at 8 p.m. in Davis Auditorium, Palamountain Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
