Discussion forums have a new look

Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

This summer we have upgraded our discussion board software to phpBB, a widely used Open Source solution. Effective today, both Fusetalk and Phorum discussion applications will be decommissioned, consolidating all forum activity (other than that managed within Blackboard) into one streamlined interface.

phpBB provides a much friendlier user interface, easier forum moderation and administration, and get this, you will actually be able to delete your own community forum posts! When you post something for rent or for sale, you can remove that post at your own choosing. What a concept!

Everyone in the Skidmore Community has access to the community forums, which include a range of topics: General Discussion, Career Services, For Sale, Housing, and Ride Share. If you?ve never taken a look at Skidmore Community Forums, we encourage you to take a look at phpBB. Please note: If you have a posting in the old discussion forum, Fusetalk, you will need to repost it in phpBB.

Academic course related forums are not wide open to the public, so you will need to click on the "Login" located within the green header of the page. After logging in with your Skidmore username and password, you will see your course forums as well. (To request forums to be created for class, please submit a Help Desk ticket.)

Additional forums can be added at your request by submitting a Help Desk ticket. You will find a variety of links to ?Discussion Forums? throughout the Skidmore website, however the url is as follows:

You can find answers to most of your questions by clicking on the "FAQ" link, located in the green header of the page. We hope you like this new discussion format.
