Activities

Mary Kathryn Jablonski '89, assistant to the director of the Schick Art Gallery, will read selections from her new chapbook titled To the Husband I Have Not Yet Met in a program scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the Riverfront Studios, 96 Broad St., Schuylerville, N.Y. A related Invitation Exhibition on display at the Riverfront Studios Sept. 6 through Oct. 25 includes artworks by Jablonski.

Pushkala Prasad, Zankel Professor for Management in the Liberal Arts, presented the following papers during the annual meetings of the Academy of Management, which met during August in Anaheim, Calif.: "The Questions We Ask About Culture: Critical Considerations on a Central Organizational Concept," with Anshuman Prasad; "From Variable to Discourse: Expanding the Scope of Workplace Diversity Research," with Anshuman Prasad; and "Asking the Diversity Question: An Ethnographic Investigation into the Discourse of Fashion," with Anshuman Prasad and Raza Mir. She also conducted a professional development workshop titled "Contested Borders: Postcolonialism and Political Economy" at the same meetings.

Jay Rogoff, lecturer in English, gave a poetry reading Aug. 14 at the Bright Hill Literary Center in Treadwell, N. Y. He also conducted three pre-performance interviews at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center during the New York City Ballet's summer residency: with principal dancer Philip Neal (July 16), and former soloists and current ballet masters Christine Redpath (July 17) and Jean-Pierre Frohlich (July 18).

Publications

Mary Crone Odekon, associate professor and chair, Department of Physics, is the author of "Characteristic Scales in Stellar Clustering: A Transition Near the Disk Scale Heigh," published in The Astrophysical Journal, Vol. 681, July 10, 2008.

Jay Rogoff, lecturer in English, has had the following poems published recently: "Manhattan" in Ploughshares, Vol. 34, No. 1 (Spring 2008); "Jane Austen, Inventor of Baseball" in Salmagundi, No. 158-59 (Spring-Summer 2008); "The Earth" in Poetry London, No. 60 (Summer 2008); and "Fever Dream" and "Votive Offerings" in The Southern Review, Vol. 44, No. 3 (Summer 2008). He also served again as The Saratogian's daily reviewer of the New York City Ballet summer season, publishing 13 articles during the company's July 8-26 residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
