Men?s basketball sweeps weekend conference games

Skidmore's men's basketball team notched conference wins over RPI and Vassar this weekend, improving to 7-11 and 2-5 in conference play.

The men overcame a 10-point deficit in the last 2:46 to squeak past RPI, 63-62, Friday night. Junior Bobby Langford (Worcester, Mass.) contributed 18 points off the bench along with seven rebounds, four blocks, and three steals to lead the Thoroughbreds.

On Saturday the men, up by two points, 47-45, with 4:22 left to play, went on a 17-0 tear to finish the game and defeat Vassar, 64-45. Junior Jon Douglas (Shutesbury, Mass.) posted 16 points and six rebounds in the win, while freshman Terron Victoria (Albany, N.Y./Bishop Maginn) added 12 points.

The women?s basketball team split its conference games this weekend, recording a 62-49 win over Vassar, while falling to RPI, 69-59. The women now stand at 6-12 overall with a 3-4 mark in conference play. Senior Kellye Caufield collected a double-double in the Vassar game as she poured in 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The men?s ice hockey team scored four unanswered goals for a come-from-behind conference win Saturday over Babson, 4-1, moving its record to 10-8 and 6-7 in ECAC East play. Hockey was downed by UMass Boston, 4-0, Friday night.

The swimming and diving teams competed at RPI Saturday, with sophomore Stephen Lento (Cincinnati, Ohio) breaking a Skidmore record in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 2:06.73 to finish at third.

Senior Kristen Zebrowski (Niskayuna, N.Y.) led the women by winning the 1,000 freestyle in a personal-best time of 11:10.38. ~By Sytiva Seitz
