Liberty League recognizes spring-break action
Skidmore athletes garnered six Liberty League weekly awards for their play over the
spring break period ending March 15.
Baseball?s Brian Lowry ?12 was named Co-Rookie of the Week. He went 8-11 during Skidmore?s
5-5 week with eight RBI and one homerun. He also had the game-winning hit over St.
Joseph?s College of Maine and picked up a win on the mound versus Colby-Sawyer.
Matt Levesque ?10 was selected men?s lacrosse Co-Offensive Performer of the Week for
scoring five goals and tallying an assist in a 10-7 win at Whittier College. He also
had a goal and an assist in an 8-7 loss to Ursinus.
Lauren Madden ?12 earned the women?s lacrosse Rookie of the Week award after she
posted two goals, two assists, four ground balls, and three draw controls in Skidmore?s
14-11 win over Goucher College.
Softball pitcher Sam Crose ?12 led the Thoroughbreds to a 5-5 week to grab Liberty
League Co-Rookie of the Week honors. She went 5-2 on the mound, recording 55 strikeouts
and a 1.52 ERA with no walks.
Men?s tennis standout Lorenzo Cabrera ?11 had a significant role in three Thoroughbred
victories over spring break to earn Co-Performer of the Week honors. Cabrera was 3-0
at number-three singles, including a 6-2, 0-6, 6-2 win that clinched the match win
over 28th-ranked Christopher Newport.
For the women?s tennis team, Rachel Loeb ?11 was Co-Performer of the Week after going
3-0 at number-two singles. After a tough three sets, she beat University of Texas-Tyler?s
Sydni Hermdorf, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
