Morgan Stanley VP to focus on international markets

?Recent Developments in Commodities and the Wider Financial Markets? is the title of the F. William Harder Lecture in Business Management, to be presented Tuesday, March 24, at Skidmore by Marc Mourre.

Free and open to the public, the talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. in Gannett Auditorium of Palamountain Hall. Mourre is vice chairman and managing director at Morgan Stanley, in charge of commodities marketing and business development worldwide.

Mourre was recently appointed vice chairman of commodities with a focus on emerging markets, including the Middle East. He has also assumed the expanded role of senior commodities relationship banker, while continuing to manage his existing relationships with senior corporate and government officials in the commodities space. A recognized expert in worldwide energy markets, Mourre is a frequent presenter at international energy conferences.

In a 2008 survey conducted by Energy Risk magazine, Morgan Stanley was ranked the number-one energy dealer in the world.

A product of the French university system, Mourre earned degrees in science and mathematics before receiving his D.E.S.S. ?Certificat d?Etudes Sup rieures en Commerce Ext rieur et Transports Internationaux? in 1979 from the Centre Sup rieur de Transports Maritimes, Universit d?Aix-Marseille.

Upon completing his education, Mourre spent three years working for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He then joined Elf Aquitaine, the largest energy company in France, in the international trading division where he spent five years. In 1986 he joined Morgan Stanley and was responsible for setting up the London commodities trading office. He moved to Singapore in 1990 to head commodities trading and marketing operations until 1995, when he returned to London as global head of commodities marketing and business development worldwide.

Mourre resides in London with his wife Odile. His daughter Gaelle is a sophmore at Skidmore.
