Crose fires perfect game for Skidmore softball

Freshman Sam Crose (Assonet, Mass.) highlighted the past week for Skidmore?s athletics week as she threw a six-inning perfect game to lead the Thoroughbreds in a sweep of Green Mountain Sunday. Softball went 3-2 on the week.

Crose struck out 15 of 18 batters and is now 9-4 on the mound for the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore won 8-0 in game one and 11-1 in game two against the Eagles. The squad?s record is 10-7 thus far this season.

Baseball split two doubleheaders with St. Lawrence Saturday and Sunday and defeated Plattsburgh on Tuesday to move to 10-11 (2-6 in Liberty League play). Senior Justin Morelli (East Setauket, N.Y.) was 5-8 in two games on Sunday with two RBI.

Freshman Lauren Madden (Huntington, N.Y.) led the women?s lacrosse team to a 2-1 week with 10 goals and one assist as the Thoroughbreds defeated Vassar, 20-18, and Smith, 20-12, but lost in overtime to Rensselaer, 12-11.

Women?s tennis played four matches in five days, improving to 11-3 on the season. The 27th-ranked Thoroughbreds recorded 7-2 wins over Wheaton and William Smith and a 9-0 decision over Ithaca, with the lone loss of the week coming at the hands of 15th-ranked Middlebury, 5-4.

The 22nd-ranked men?s tennis squad posted a 9-0 shutout of Hobart College Sunday, while dropping a 7-2 match to sixth-ranked Middlebury Saturday to finish the regular season at 12-2. The men will play next at the Liberty League championships April 18-19 at Hobart.

Senior Tom Levesque (Duxbury, Mass.) had two goals and two assists for the men?s lacrosse team in a tough 5-4 overtime loss to RPI as the Thoroughbreds take a 5-3 record into an April 7 match-up with Williams. ~By Sytiva Seitz
