Program promotes, celebrates Designated Drivers

The program, titled ?Cheers to the Designated Driver,? has received financial support from the local chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and a Student Opportunity Fund grant from the Dean of Student Affairs. Explained Alyssa Chrobuck '09, ?The idea is to provide a designated driver with an identifier, in this case, it is a disposable bracelet like that provided to concert-goers. Bartenders and wait staff will know that the person with the bracelet should not be served alcoholic beverages during the evening.?

On May 7, 2009, Chrobuck and James Merrick '11 distributed bracelets and posters to several Saratoga establishments. Two local newspapers covered the launch of ?Cheers to the Designated Driver.?
