Girl Scouts name Motzkin a 'Woman of Distinction'

June 4, 2009

Rabbi Linda Motzkin is one of a handful of women in the world who has trained to be a Hebrew scribe, which she says incorporates both her spiritual and artistic tendencies in a meaningful way. Together with her husband Jonathan Rubenstein, Motzkin serves as rabbi of Temple Sinai in Saratoga Springs. In 2005 they founded the Bread and Torah Project, through which they offer education programs on her scribal arts work and his baking activities, teaching about human needs for spiritual and physical nourishment.

Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York cited these groundbreaking accomplishments in selecting Motzkin as a 2009 Woman of Distinction. Five women from Warren, Washington, and Saratoga couties were honored June 3 at a dinner at the Hall of Springs, and The Saratogian covered the event. Click here to read more.
