What's open, closed during holiday weekend at Skidmore

Skidmore College will observe the Fourth of July holiday on Friday, July 3. Most offices will be closed; however, a number of special events will take place as scheduled.

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery will be closed during the day. The galleries will be open from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and the Upbeat on the Roof concert by the Tequila Mockingbirds is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Admission to Upbeat on the Roof is free and open to the public; the rain location is the Payne Presentation Room inside the museum.

On Saturday and Sunday, July 4 and 5, the Tang will be open from noon to 5 p.m. There is no ?Tang Family Saturday? scheduled on July 4. Click here for details on current exhibitions at the Tang.

Other activities that will take place as scheduled on Friday, July 3, are the Summer Jazz Institute Student Concert at 1 p.m. in Filene Recital Hall and the New York State Summer Writers Institute non-fiction and poetry reading by authors Phillip Lopate and April Bernhard at 8 p.m. in Davis Auditorium of Palamountain Hall. Both are free and open to the public.

Skidmore?s Schick Art Gallery is currently closed for exhibition installation and will reopen Tuesday, July 7, with an exhibition of works by Natalie Miebach.
