Post-Lundquist named director of financial aid

Beth Post-Lundquist, former director of financial aid at the University at Albany, State University of New York, is the new director of financial aid at Skidmore College, according to an announcement by Mary Lou Bates, dean of admissions and financial aid.

Post-Lundquist succeeds Robert Shorb, Skidmore?s financial-aid director since 1989. Shorb, who will be on phased retirement through December 2010, will take an active part in admissions-recruitment activities and also serve as a resource during the office?s transition period.

?Beth comes to Skidmore with an extensive background in financial aid,? said Bates. ?She has worked 20 years in the profession at both private and public institutions, and has acquired strong leadership and managerial experience at Union College and the University at Albany.?

Post-Lundquist will be responsible for the leadership and management of Skidmore?s financial-aid office, including the administration of aid programs that total more than $45 million annually. She will work closely with Dean Bates in strategically allocating the financial-aid budget in support of the College?s goals of access, academic excellence, and diversity. She will also provide counseling to students and parents and assist with interpretation of and compliance with federal and state regulations.

Before joining the staff of the University at Albany in 2007, Post-Lundquist was director of financial aid at Union College, where she gained experience with needs analysis, grant and loan packaging, and family counseling. She also served as the campus point person for Union?s Datatel software system; collaborated with the dean of engineering to improve enrollment and retention of women and minorities in science and engineering; helped develop statistical models to forecast enrollment, financial aid, and net revenue; and initiated recruitment efforts to engage faculty groups working with honors students, among other projects. Prior to Union College, she was assistant director of financial aid at RPI.

Post-Lundquist, who holds a bachelor?s degree in marketing and management from Siena College, grew up in Saratoga Springs and took accelerated courses at Skidmore while a student at Saratoga High School. She lives in Saratoga Springs with her husband and their children.
