SEC concert to feature indie band Grizzly Bear
Skidmore's Student Entertainment Company (SEC) will host a concert by Grizzly Bear with opening act Gang Gang Dance Sept. 25 in the College's Sports and Recreation Center. The show begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets for non-students are $20 each and may be ordered here.
Albany Times Union writer Scott Waldman the following in a recent column about the concert:
"The award for hippest fall concert in the Capital Region goes to Skidmore College. The school is bringing in Grizzly Bear, current indie rock darling of rock critics everywhere. The band has been packing in sell-out crowds at shows across the country as it tours behind its Veckatimest album, which has received rave reviews from Spin, Q and Pitchfork.com and will certainly top many critics' lists as the year's best. The group started composing the songs for the album in an Ulster County jazz-age mansion.
"It's nice to have at least one school in the area where the musical offerings equal the type of show one could see in Brooklyn. The band has already sold out a Halloween show at London's famed Barbican Hall with the London Symphony Orchestra. But you can see them here, in the school's sports center, on Sept. 25. Tickets are $20 and the show is open to nonstudents. Gang Gang Dance opens."
