Thoroughbreds wrap a successful week

The women's soccer team went unbeaten over the weekend to win a share of the Skidmore Invitational.   Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Sleezer (Gloversville, N.Y.) posted back-to-back shutouts as the Thoroughbreds tied Westfield State 0-0 Saturday and defeated Husson College 2-0 Sunday to improve to 3-1-1 on the early season.

Field hockey picked up two road wins, defeating SUNY New Paltz 7-2 and Williams College 1-0.   Junior Brittany O'Brien (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored a career-high three goals and recorded an assist in the New Paltz contest and junior Christine Kemp (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) scored the game-winner in Sunday's shutout of Williams.

Men's tennis went 3-0 en route to the team's third consecutive Flower City Tournament championship this weekend in Rochester defeating Nazareth, Ithaca and SUNY Oneonta.   Sophomore Luke Granger (Allendale, N.J.) went 2-0 in singles and combined with junior Carl-Eric Girardin (Lake Bluff, Ill.) to win all three of their doubles matches.

Men's soccer dropped two games?to Western New England and William Paterson?in the Oneonta Hall of Fame Tournament.   Sophomore goalie Nick Peterson (West Hartford, Conn.) and sophomore forward Matt Wolff (Minneapolis, Minn.) were selected to the All-Tournament team. 

The men's golf team, currently ranked eighth in the nation, opened the season with a clean even-par total of 288 at the Tim Brown Invitational, held last weekend at the Saratoga State Park Spa Course. The team is now 11-0 after the first tournament.  Senior Captain Chris DeJohn tied for first place with a six under score of 138 (70-68) that was highlighted by two eagles in the first round. ~By Cody Berschwinger
