Successful holiday week for Thoroughbreds

Men's basketball finished a shortened week with a 110-58 victory over Southern Vermont. Senior Jon Douglas (Amherst, Mass.) and sophomore Melvis Langyintuo (Tamale, Ghana) each scored 18 points, helping the Thoroughbreds improve to 4-0 on the season. Men's basketball will travel to Hartwick Tuesday, Dec. 1, and will host Johnson State in the first round of the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4.

Women's basketball remains unbeaten after a 50-45 victory over Sage. Senior Amber Kinsey (Troy, N.Y.) led Skidmore with 14 points and eight rebounds while sophomore Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y.) finished with eight points, six assists, and four steals. The 3-0 Thoroughbreds travel to Hartwick Tuesday, Dec. 1, and will host NYU at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Ice hockey finished the week with a 1-2 record. Skidmore notched a 5-2 victory over the University of New England in the consolation game of the Skidmore Invitational. Junior Hunter Thayer (Shelburne, Vt.) had two goals and an assist while sophomore Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass.) picked up an assist and was and an All-Tournament Team selection. The Thoroughbreds resume play this weekend when they travel to Maine to take on Bowdoin and Colby.

The Skidmore riding team closed the semester by posting a perfect score of 49 points right before the holiday break. Five Skidmore riders tied for high point rider. The team will resume action Feb. 25 at Cornell. ~ By Cody Berschwinger
