Thoroughbreds welcome 2010

Women's basketball finished 1-1 at the Bowdoin Coastal Maine Classic. The Thoroughbreds suffered their first lost of the season to fourth-ranked Bowdoin on day one, but came back on day two and defeated St. Joseph's (Maine) 60-49. Senior Sharlyn Harper (New York, NY) was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.5 points over the two games. Skidmore returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 6, hosting Williams College at 7 p.m. in the Sports and Recreation Center.

Ice hockey finished 0-2 at the Plattsburgh Cardinal Classic, falling to Trinity and Castleton. Senior Chris Webb (Holliston, Mass.) and freshman Zach Menard (Burlington, Mass.) each scored against Trinity while sophomore Nick Dupuis (Holyoke, Mass.) scored against Castleton. The Thoroughbreds host Wesleyan at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8.

Men's basketball lost 72-68 at Castleton on Sunday. Freshman Sakhile Sithole (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) led Skidmore with 13 points off the bench and senior Jon Douglas (Amherst, Mass) added 12 points. The Thoroughbreds are at Norwich at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6. ~ By Cody Berschwinge
