Learning Lilly: An insider's look at managing a brand icon
The Department of Management and Business is hosting an evening event that will provide an insider's look at marketing a high-end designer.
"Learning Lilly: An Insider's Look at Managing a Compelling and Creative Brand and Career" is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Surrey Williamson Inn. Admission is free.
Laura Finnerty Paul, lecturer in management and business, coordinated the event, which will feature two executives from Lilly Pulitzer: Joanna Lee, director of merchandising and marketing, and Jennifer Raines, business development manager; as well as Kimberly Burton, owner of the Pink Paddock in Saratoga Springs, a Lilly Pulitzer retail outlet.
According to the Lilly Pulitzer Web site, the brand was launched 50 years ago with a line of stylish, colorful dresses that were worn by fashion icons such as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Flamboyant prints and brilliant colors have been Lilly Pulitzer signatures throughout the company's history. Today the company features dresses, sportswear, accessories for people and the home, as well as men's and children's lines.
The program will cover such topics as launching a successful career in the consumer products industry, the history of the colorful Lilly Pulitzer brand, and owning one's own business. Light refreshments and fun surprises will be provided.
