Activities

Megan Mercier, associate director of alumni affairs and college events, co-chaired (with Tom Hanrahan, director of college relations at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Penn.)the annual District II Conference sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Feb. 6-8 in Baltimore. The event's theme was "Learn MORE. Connect MORE. BaltiMORE." Attendees included more than 700 practitioners, exhibitors, and sponsors from the field of educational advancement in the Mid-Atlantic region, including alumni relations, communications and marketing, and development professionals. Among those attending was Skidmore's Tracy Barlok, District II's "Professional of the Year." 

Mercier has been active in CASEsince 2001 as a conference attendee and volunteer.

Dan Nathan, associate professor of American Studies, has been named president of the North American Society of Sport History. Read more here.

Ken Klotz, UWW (retired), participated in a panel titled "Inside-Out: An Evening of Artistic Expression from the Experience of Incarceration" Feb. 17 at Bethesda Episcopal Church. The program featured poetry and music created through arts programming at Mt. McGregor Correctional Facility in Wilton. During his years at UWW, Klotz was deeply involved inteaching inmates atthe UWW's prison program at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Comstock, N.Y. 

Sue Van Hook, recently retired senior teaching associate, Biology, led a winter hike along the trails of the New Skete Monastery Feb. 19 in Cambridge, N.Y. The Battenkill Conservancy sponsored the winter outing.
