Dance+21 scheduled Sunday, April 3
Skidmore College will collaborate with the Capital/Saratoga Dance Alliance and the National Museum of Dance to sponsor the 21 st annual Dance+21 Festival Sunday, April 3, at the National Museum of Dance.
The event is scheduled form 10 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Admission to classes ranges from $8 to $45. Reduced fees are available for children and their guardians.
The festival will feature 23 different classes in ballet, modern, ethnic, jazz, tap, social dance, yoga, and body workshops, ranging from introductory through advanced level, with 23 different teachers and musicians. A segment on nutrition for dancers also will be offered. Guest artists, area teachers, and the Skidmore dance faculty will teach the sessions. Former New York City Ballet dancers Peter Naumann and Lisa Chalmers are among those who will teach.
Class offerings include rumba/tango, Bollywood, country line dances, jazz, t'ai chi, yoga, hip-hop, tap, zumba, ballet and modern. There are specific classes designed for children ranging in age from 7 to 12, teens, adult beginners, and the experienced dancer.
Three free opportunities to watch dance performances also will be offered: two dance movies will be screened ( Jerome Robbins' NY Export: Opus Jazz and Michael Jackson's This Is It), and Move Dance will perform live during the lunch period.
