College comes through Irene in good shape

August 29, 2011

As of late Sunday night, there were reports that as many as 130,000 residents of the Capital District region were still without power as a result of damage inflicted by Tropical Storm Irene. However, the College was operating on full power and was prepared to open for business Monday morning.

Several large trees on the campus came down in winds that gusted to 50 and 60 miles per hour, and there was minor flooding in the basements of some buildings, but that was pretty much the extent of the damage, Campus Safety reported.
